I knew Dain wasn’t shit. I say as I turn to the next page. I’ve must have said this several times while reading this book. I shook my head in annoyance. When I finally reached the end of the book and read that part, yes that part, I put the book down for just a moment and said it again, I knew he wasn’t shit.

BLURB:
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.
But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away…because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.
With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother’s daughter—like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant.
She’ll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.
Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom’s protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.
Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda—because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.
MY THOUGHTS (*Spoiler Alert*)
It took me a few weeks to finish this book. Not because it was a boring read, nope, it is far cry from that, but because of trying to balance being a mom and reading this book. However, I devoured this book every time I had the chance to. When I got to the last few pages of the book, I had a deep sinking feeling and a hint of anxiety whirled in my chest. I didn’t know what I would do with myself once I finished this book. How would I function in this real world after having been in this fantasy world? I was terrified. I’ve read good books throughout the years, but this topped it all off. I enjoyed every moment of this book. I haven’t enjoyed a book this much since maybe High School.
Yarros did an amazing job telling this story. I loved all the characters, the action, the romance and dragons. It was as if each character was alive and in action in my mind while reading. I saw everything so clear and vivid as if I was walking through the woods with my black leathers on or waiting to bond to a dragon. Hand me my daggers Liam. Can I have a dragon too or what? Oh poor Liam.
If Harry Potter, Divergent and The Hunger Games had a baby, this would be it. It’s everything you would ever imagine. I loved that the riders had to bond with their dragons, had to have their own abilities and strengths. It was magical.
The sexual tension between Xaden and Violet had me on the edge of my seat. Give me a little fire. Hell, I fell in love with Xaden too. I wasn’t expecting the book to include elements of romance but I am so glad it does. Mind you, this is the first book I’ve read from Yarros and it will not be my last because I sure will order the sequel to this book. The ending was phenomenal. I would say more but, I want you to enjoy reading this book. It was a chef kiss ending and now, excuse me while I go deep dive on TikTok through The Fourth Wing Theories and fan girl.
Cheer’s to starting a new series and having fun reading. The Fourth Wing surely is worth all of the buzz it is getting.
Happy Reading Folks!
