My Current Summer TBR List: The List is Growing

When was the last time you read something so good that you could not help but think about the characters after reading it? I have been in a fog at Basgiath War college, The Fourth Wing. I’ve been imagining myself running up and down the halls, getting my behind kicked on the mat, and seeing dragons. So naturally, I did not pick up another book right away. I plan to re-read The Fourth Wing again, but this time slowly so that I can take my time putting bits and pieces together like a puzzle. After listening to many BookTokers review this book, I’ve learned that there were a lot of things that I might have missed. Re-reading a book is such a wonderful experience too. I can’t wait to sit with this book again. This book to me is like putting a fresh bouquet of flowers in a vase for display on top of my bedroom dresser. I’m going to get some The Fourth Wing merch baby! That’s how crazy I am about this book. So, if you see me on TikTok with merch on, just know that I am really enjoying this whole experience. I am healing my inner child. That’s the fun thing about adulting too. You can get all the unnecessary stuff that your heart desires, like The Fourth Wing merch.

I have a few new books that I want to get into this summer as well. I’ve picked up two from Target and one from Amazon. One is a current book club read. Not the lavenderblissonline book club though. Fun Fact: the Mommy Mindset Group I’ve joined back in January has turned into a Book club and the book we are reading now is The Build Up by Tati Richardson.

I’ve read the first chapter of Tati Richardson’s, “The Build Up” last night and it is slowly moving me away from the War College. The first chapter had me sitting in bed rubbing my feet together in anticipation. I have a feeling that this is going to be a juicy romantic read and I am here for it. Afterall, It is summer. I am living for steamy reads. It’s a cute read so far ya’ll! I’m only one chapter in but a review will come when I am done. I think it’s a perfect transition read from having read The Fourth Wing. Something light and fun.

Here’s a little blurb on The Build Up:

A truly unfortunate first day of work leads to unexpected love in this sparkling debut from Romance in Colour podcast cohost Tati Richardson.

Rumpled and ragged was not how architect Ari James envisioned kicking off her first day at a new firm. And few things can top the horror of her new—and extremely hot—colleague walking in on her at the worst moment ever. Learning that she’ll be working with him on the project that’s supposed to get her career back on top makes it harder than ever to focus on her big comeback.

With a partnership at his firm on the line, nothing is going to stand in the way of Porter Harrison absolutely killing it on his new project: not his obnoxious rival, not his unpredictable brother and definitely not his new coworker whose gorgeous curves he accidentally saw and now can’t get out of his head.

Though neither of them is looking for love, once their creative juices get flowing, Ari and Porter’s connection is obvious. But when their shared goal has always been winning at work, building a solid foundation for a relationship might end up costing them everything …

What else am I reading this summer? Check it out below and a snippet on what the book is about.

Black Candle Woman by Diane Marie Brown

Generations of Montrose women—Augusta, Victoria, Willow—have always lived together in their quaint California bungalow. They keep to themselves, never venture far from home, and their collection of tinctures and spells is an unspoken bond between them. But when young Nickie Montrose brings home a boy for the first time, their quiet lives are thrown into disarray.

For the family has withheld a crucial secret from Nickie all these years: any person a Montrose woman falls in love with will die. Their surprise guest forces each woman to reckon with her own past choices and mistakes. And as new truths about the curse emerge, they’re set on a collision course dating back to 1950s New Orleans’s French Quarter—where a hidden story in a mysterious book may just hold the answers they seek in life and in love…

Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

When 19-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin – one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world. As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it… or doom Tamlin – and his world – forever.

I am planning on immersing myself in the world of Fantasy and I’ve heard great things about Court of Thorns and Roses. I am excited to immerse myself in this series this summer since the second book of The Fourth Wing series doesn’t come out until November. BookTok better not let me down with this Court of Thorns and Roses rec!

The Black Candle Woman caught my interest, not only because the cover of the book is beautiful, but because, of the story line. I love magic and I love love. So, the two together should be a wonderful experience.

I will review all books on the blog this summer but what are you currently reading? What other books do you recommend I check out? What books should I not add to my list? What books did you hate? Please give me the Tea!

Happy Reading Folks.

More Ria, More Onyx, More Heart: A Holiday Novella Breakdown

Thank you Amanda for the ARC! Now Alexa, go ahead and play “Can You Stand The Rain” by Boyz II Men, because that’s the exact mood this novella put me in. Quick Take I devoured this novella. Truly. Ria and Onyx have always owned a piece of my reader heart from the Bloom universe, so…

Lost Girls of Hollow Lake by Rebekah Faubion

Thank you Books Forward and Netgalley for the arc ! Lost Girls of Hollow Lake is marketed as a Young Adult Horror Thriller, but let me tell you, it didn’t feel like YA at all, and I loved that. It had all the eerie suspense and chilling vibes of an adult thriller, with just enough…
