Happy Valentine’s Day Lovebugs! (Live From My Bed Reading Plot Twist by Erin La Rosa)

BLURB:

Romance author Sophie Lyon’s ironic secret just went viral: she’s never been in love—and it’s ruining her reputation. With a manuscript deadline looming, Sophie makes an ambitious plan to overcome her writer’s block: reunite with her exes (including her last girlfriend Carla, the one person she could have loved) to learn why she’s never fallen in love, and document it all for her millions of new online followers.

Luckily, Sophie’s reclusive landlord, Dash Montrose—a former teen heartthrob—has social media all figured out and is willing to help. What he doesn’t mention is that he’s an anonymous online crafter, a hobby that helps him maintain his sobriety. No one knows about his complicated relationship with alcohol, and with a family that’s Hollywood royalty, Dash has to steer clear of scandal.

As Sophie and Dash grow closer, they discover a heat between them that rivals Dash’s pottery kiln. But Sophie needs to figure out who she is outside her relationships, and Dash isn’t sure he’s stable enough for the commitment she deserves. So Sophie suggests what any good romance author would: a friends-with-benefits arrangement. Surely a strictly casual relationship won’t cause any trouble…

MY THOUGHTS:

I spent my evening lounging in bed like Willy Wonka’s Grandparents, in my fabulous night dress from Walmart, diving into “Plot Twist” by Erin La Rosa, and I gotta say, it was quite the ride! Was it the best book I’ve ever read? Nah. Was it a charming, cozy read for Valentine’s day? Absolutely! It started off slow, but boy, did it pick up as Dash faced his struggles and Sophie had his back. The romance was there, but not overpowering, which was a nice break from all the steamy reads I’ve been into lately. The idea of a romance author who’s never been in love got me thinking – how many romance authors out there are in the same boat? Can’t blame them, though. We all crave that happy ending, even if we’ve never experienced it ourselves. I am a total sucker for romance novels myself. I’m on the fence about Sophie going back to her exes for heart-to-hearts, but hey, I get it. And can we talk about the characters using TikTok in the book? Hilarious and so on point! Also, big shoutout to Dash for picking up hobbies to help with his sobriety. Seriously, everyone needs a hobby! The healing power of hobbies, am I right?

If you’re on the hunt for a light and breezy addition to your reading list, look no further! This gem of a book spans 327 pages, but fear not – the chapters are short and sweet, making it a delightfully easy and enjoyable read. I mean, who doesn’t love a book that practically reads itself, am I right?

“Plot Twist” is the second book in The Hollywood Series, (ofcourse I would end up realizing after the fact). I have “For Butter or Worse” currently waiting in my tote bag ready to be read as well.

Happy Reading Folks!
