What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas, Or Does It? A Review of A Worthy Love by A.E. Valdez

BLURB:

Publicly humiliated, Marisa Banks is blindsided by the news that the man she’s been dating for months is married. Being called names she wouldn’t wish on anyone in front of a room full of people by her boyfriend’s wife is enough to shake her identity to its foundations. In an attempt to rebuild, she makes a few questionable decisions.

Asher Blaine is one of them. He’s intelligent and sexy, but the pedestal he’s got himself up on is unshakeable. Or so he thinks. Marisa asks for the one thing he can’t deny her, even if it’s the craziest thing he’s ever done.

She wants one night, his best eight hours. And damn if he doesn’t deliver. The next morning, her bubble is shattered by his loud mouth, and Marisa retaliates with a stiletto and a remote. The best night of her life is over, and she’s more than happy to walk away a free woman.

Asher’s job sends him to Marisa’s city, and when they cross paths again, it’s Asher’s turn to make an offer. And just like him, she can’t refuse.

Will her worst nightmare and his complicated past ruin what they’re building, or can they lean on one another to make it through?

MY THOUGHTS:

“A Worthy Love” is part of the “Rise & Fall” Series, but let me tell you, I’m pretty picky when it comes to series. Not every book in a series captures my heart. Sometimes, I’m cool with just reading one book and leaving the love lives of the other characters a mystery. I bet their love lives are full of spice, though! I gave the other books a shot, but they just didn’t hook me. “A Worthy Love,” though, had me hooked from the get-go. The whole ‘let’s elope’ idea was spicy, fun, and left me craving more of Marissa and Asher. Props to A.E. Valdez for starting the story like that. No slow burn, just diving right in! Marissa living it up was risky, and hey, I’m not here to judge, but (Spoiler alert), a pregnancy was pretty much on the cards. I was waiting for that bombshell to drop. Valdez totally laid the groundwork for it in this book. So yeah, you could say it was a bit predictable. In romance books, sometimes there’s so much focus on the physical stuff that you forget what the story’s really about. I mean, we get it, Marissa and Asher have some seriously good chemistry. But hey, this is an enemies to lovers story all about healing, friendship, and love. Overall, it was a blast to read! I’m giving it a solid five stars because I had a great time. Will I give the other books in the series a shot? Probably not. Who knows though. I will say that “A Worthy Love” stands strong on its own and is definitely worth diving into. Also, Marissa has motivated me to get back on my yoga mat!

Happy Reading Folks!
