BLURB:
I saw him first.
But it didn’t matter.
Because he saw her.
He was my best friend, and I was his.
We couldn’t be together, but we couldn’t stand to be apart.
And if you’re not truly lovers… but you’re so much more than friends… what exactly are you?
MY THOUGHTS:
The beginning of A Love Letter To Whiskey totally got me! I was so eager to see how Jamie and B’s love story would play out. At one point, it kinda reminded me of Grip by Kennedy Ryan. It was like the journey from young love to taking a chance on each other as adults, but man, B’s self-sabotage was a lot to get through. She could’ve just done a long distance thing with Jamie and been happy. The cheating, being the best lady, jumping into new relationships so quickly without fully healing from their own, it was intense. There was a lot of back and forth. I wanted to tell B either you wanna be with Jamie or you don’t, because it’s becoming like a game of Cat and Mouse and that’s not cool. Oh, but I did love that Jamie and B surfed! I also loved all of the Whiskey symbolism! The ending left me hanging, though. I wanted something more, something sweeter. The added Love, Whiskey in the new addition, I don’t think it was necessary, but hey, I’m not the Author, what do I know? I think the book could have just been a dual perspective throughout instead of having Jamie retell the same story again from his perspective. I don’t want to read the same book back to back. Sometimes with books pushing 400 pages, they can get repetitive, and at times I felt this book was. I’m giving this book three stars because I did enjoy reading it and the spice was great. There was just a lot going on in this book.
