Review of Lyric (Book 2 : The Eisenberg Effect) By Grey Huffington

BLURB:

She’s a gem.

And on an entirely different level than the women I’m accustomed to.

She’s loyal and about her paper. That’s why I’d sacrifice the only friendships I’d ever known, wait for however long it took her to be ready, and happily sever ties with anyone who didn’t agree with or was against our union. Because the little spoiled brat that I once considered off-limits had given me a taste of her forbidden fruit and there was nothing I’d stop at to maintain the privilege of burying my seeds in her garden.

He’s a friend.

And doesn’t mind risking it all for me.

The truth is, I just can’t get enough of him. From his jet-black skin to his uncompromisingly addictive smile, he has me in a chokehold. However, our union isn’t as simple as we wish it was. That’s why I can’t see myself breaking my brothers’ hearts, destroying our family’s dynamic, or disappointing the man that means the most to me to be with him. I’d already cost him enough pain and suffering for the sake of love. I couldn’t bring myself to do it again.

MY THOUGHTS:

Grey Huffington is just killing it, guys! I devoured this book. I was totally hooked from start to finish and let me tell you, Laike had me in stitches every time he opened his mouth! I can’t wait to dive into his story. Grey’s writing is so direct and fast-paced. Her books take me back to why I fell in love with reading, like a breath of fresh air. It’s simple, but also has these beautifully poetic moments.

Here are some quotes that live in my head:

I miss you like I miss Sunday mornings at my parent’s before church. I miss you like the melodies and love-driven lyrics of old R & B. I miss you like a long, lost love that I’ll never get back again. I miss you like I miss you- like only I could miss you.

I often imagine the faces of our children and what being in love with you must feel like.

Ken is not really my book crush, to be honest. Out of the two books in the series, I prefer Luca over Ken, but I still enjoyed reading the story. Lyric did annoy me sometimes with her whole “I don’t want to tell my brothers blah blah blah” thing. I really wished she’d just admit that she and Ken were a thing and get it over with. I just couldn’t stand her hesistancy and sneaking around like she wasn’t in her 30s. She probably should have stuck it out in therapy a bit more. Poor Collin, though. It would be cool to see what happens to him in his own book someday, don’t you think? Anyway, I was so surprised to learn that Ever never even told Luca about Lyric and Ken’s budding relationship. That’s true friendship right there, because a lot of women would gossip with their husbands or partners about their friends’ relationships.

There’s totally a pattern here between Luca and Lyric, they’re both super eager to start families and find love. Like, both books really put a lot of emphasis on having a family and tons of children. I really liked that Lyric got a happy ending too. I loved seeing lyric be loved on!

If you are looking for a romance book with A LOT of spice and that gives you POWER (the tv show) feels. I totally recommend checking out this book!
