Review of Family Pack by Lisa Diane Kastner (aka Kali Metis)

BLURB:

The novel, FAMILY PACK, written by Kali Metis (the pen name for Lisa Kastner) is the follow up novel to CURE and continues the tale of LUNA AUBER as she discovers her own destiny and provides the origins of the two primary lycanthropic organizations, The Lycanthrope Society (TLS) which believe that humans and lycanthropes should exist in harmony while The Righteous Group (TRG) believe that lycanthropes are intended to rule over all other species and Luna’ s battle to prevent the decimation of the world as she knows it.

MY THOUGHTS:

Thank you so much, Booksforward, for the ARC! Reading the first book, “The Curse,” is a must before diving into this one because it lays the groundwork for the world and adds a lot of depth to the story. I’m genuinely considering going back to read the first book because of this. The recurring themes of identity and self-discovery are really captivating, and there’s so much potential in this book with its rich history and the back-and-forth between timelines. As someone new to Kali’s work, I firmly believe this book is best enjoyed after reading the first one. While the beginning of the book had a slower pace, I remained hopeful that the story would pick up. I particularly enjoyed the concept of Luna’s journey to uncover the source of her transformation and delve into the historical background, however, I perhaps would have been much more connected to this story had I read the prior installment. Plus, I would have loved even more eerie and spooky elements, especially considering The Curse is categorized as horror on Amazon. Nevertheless, reading the first book in the series is a must. “Family Pack” would be absolutely perfect for those cozy October nights. For fans of sci-fi and werewolves, you may want to consider adding this one to your TBR this fall.
