BLURB:
Sinner. Villain. Wicked.
The Prince of Envy has never claimed to be a saint. But when a cryptic note arrives, signaling the beginning of a deadly game, he knows it will take more than a hint of sin to win and save his falling demon court. Riddles, hexed objects, anonymous players, nothing will stand in his way, though none of his meticulous plans prepare him for her, the frustrating artist who ignites his sin like no other…
Virtuous. Darling. Liar.
The trouble with scoundrels and blackguards is that they haven’t a modicum of honor, a fact Miss Camilla Antonius learns after one desperate mistake allows Waverly Green’s most notorious rake to blackmail her. To avoid a ruinous scandal, Camilla is forced to enter a devil’s bargain with Envy, little expecting his game will awaken her true nature . . .
Together, Envy and Camilla must embark on a perilous journey through the Underworld—from glittering demon courts to the sultry vampire realm and beyond—while trying to avoid the most dangerous trap of all: falling in love.
MY THOUGHTS:
I’ve recently delved into Dark Adult Fantasy books, and Kerri Maniscalco’s “Throne of the Fallen” blew me away. The perfect blend of fantasy and romance, combined with an enemies-to-lovers storyline, made for an intense and vivid reading experience. However, a heads-up: this book is unabashedly explicit, so if that’s not your cup of tea, it might not be the best fit. Despite this, I found myself fully immersed in the world of vampires, fae, immortals, and mortals. The storytelling was incredibly vivid, drawing me in completely. The dynamic between Prince Envy and Camille was captivating, and I found both characters to be likeable and relatable. Unlike some reads where the characters fall short, I could see myself befriending them. The book is like sipping a glass of Cabernet one moment and indulging in bourbon the next – a tantalizing, dark, and spicy take on The Bridgerton Series. It’s a sexy fantasy that bursts with rich colors and comes to life on the pages. I must also praise the physical book itself; the cover is a perfect reflection of the story, and the vibrant illustrations of maps and flowers inside make the reading experience even more enchanting. Kerri Maniscalco truly nailed this fantasy. Although part of a series, it stands strong as a standalone. I haven’t read the other books in the series, but I can’t wait for the next one to hit the shelves!
Happy Reading Folks!
